New Delhi: On Monday, the Gurugram Police Cyber Cell detained two people in connection with an OLX scam. Through a report filed at the Cyber Police Station Manesar, the police learned about the occurrence. Vishnu, a resident of Bagahi village in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, and Rahul, a resident of Kuthmari village in Bhivadi, Rajasthan, were identified as the suspects who had been detained. The investigation, according per the police, began on October 17, 2022, when a person lodged a written complaint at the Cyber Police Station, accusing someone of defrauding the government out of Rs 44,000 in connection with a property rental that was listed on OLX.
The Cyber Crime Police Station then filed a case in accordance with the pertinent provisions. Rahul was nabbed from his home, and the accused Vishnu was taken into custody near IMT Chowk in Manesar. The defendants were engaged in the deception of gullible individuals by renting out residences as a cover. Under police questioning, it became apparent that the accused and their colleagues had planned a scam to steal Rs 44,000 from the complainant's bank account by pretending to be landlords listing properties for rent on OLX. Vishnu opened the bank account used in the fraud by using someone else's papers.Subsequent inquiries revealed that Vishnu, who works as a labor supervisor for a firm, helped Rahul, another laborer, register a bank account. He then sold Rahul the account for Rs 20,000. Rahul allegedly sold the account to someone else for Rs 35,000 in return. It is shocking to learn that eight separate bank accounts were used in the same manner. The police unit is aggressively investigating the claims in detail and gathering evidence with the use of cutting edge police technology.
